Hillsborough, CA · Peninsula · Operator-owned fleet

Hillsborough charter bus rental from the company that drives the bus.

Our South San Francisco yard is about 15 minutes from Town Hall on I-280, so a Hillsborough job starts with a short, honest deadhead line rather than a padded one. No marketplace, no subcontractor, no 20–40% broker margin sitting between you and the operator. The driver who takes a coach up a narrow estate road works for us and has done it before.

The runs our drivers already know

Road miles are from Hillsborough Town Hall and times are typical off-peak. Almost everything here is a residential-access problem: no commercial block, narrow winding roads, and driveways that hold one vehicle at a time.

Why it matters who owns the bus

Direct operator vs. national booking marketplace

Most sites ranking for "charter bus Hillsborough" do not own a single vehicle. They resell operators like us and add a margin. Here is what changes when you skip that layer.

What Hillsborough charters typically cost

Ranges are published so you can budget before you call. On the hill the vehicle size is set by the road, and we would rather tell you that at quote time than at the gate.

Minibus, 24–35 passengers$150–$175/hr

Driver included. Five-hour minimum, so a half day runs $750–$875. Estate guest loops, golf days, campus runs, short SFO transfers.

Motorcoach, 56 passengers$190–$245/hr

Driver included. Quoted per itinerary on top of the hourly rate because deadhead, tolls and return time change the total.

Recurring shuttle programContract rate

Repeating school and club routes on the hill. Monthly invoicing, PO-based billing and net terms.

Always included: driver, fuel, standard insurance, live tracking. Quoted separately: tolls, parking, driver overnight on multi-day trips, gratuity if you choose to add it.

Hillsborough FAQ

Answers from the people who dispatch the buses

How much does a charter bus cost in Hillsborough?

A half-day (5-hour) 24-35 passenger minibus in Hillsborough typically runs $750–$875 with the driver included. A 56-passenger motorcoach is quoted per itinerary. Deadhead from our yard is only about 15 minutes on I-280, so most of the cost here is hold time on site rather than driving.

Will a bus fit on a Hillsborough estate road?

Some will and some will not, and we check before we quote rather than after. Many of the hill roads have no shoulder, low branches and driveways that hold one vehicle, so we often run a minibus or a Sprinter on a loop and keep the larger coach staged on a through street like Ralston or El Camino.

Do you handle Carolands Chateau events?

Yes. Staging is on Remillard Drive and vehicles are fed to the entrance on a schedule rather than all at once, which is what the property and the neighbours expect. We agree the loop and the hold points with the event coordinator before the day.

Which airports do you serve from Hillsborough?

San Francisco (SFO, about 6 road miles), Oakland (OAK, about 28 miles) and San Jose (SJC, about 33 miles). SFO is close enough that we can wait out a delayed arrival at our own yard rather than putting the meter on while the group is still in the air.

Are you a broker or the actual bus company?

We are the operator. The vehicles are ours, the drivers are on our payroll, and dispatch and maintenance are run by us from South San Francisco under CPUC TCP 0037963 and USDOT 3126263. Nobody is reselling you someone else's bus with a margin attached.

Can you issue a COI for a private Hillsborough residence or club?

Yes, usually the same business day. Private hosts and clubs on the hill typically want to be named as certificate holder and additional insured, and because the vehicles are on our own policy the certificate comes from us directly with no third party in the chain.
